Plaxo is rolling out it's version 3.0 (beta) of their webapplication.
They've bought the group of young developers around http://hipcal.com/ , and my guess is that it's those guys who have played an active role in the complete rework of their webapplication.
Some points of interest.
- They support Open-id. Great to see another big player support it. Drupal was already rewarded for their work to support OpenID (http://drupal.org/node/162356)
- They have adapted their off-line tool and online version to make a less simple to 'spam' all the contact to request for an update of their contact info. This has been a major complaint by many people and has been a reason why some of my friends/contact don't want to use their service anymore
- There is even more synchronization with 3th parties. like linkedin, google, aol, ..
- There have been some problems with the google sync (deleting calendars in plaxo resulted in deleting calendars in google). I even received an email from Google customer support to notify me of that problem asking whether they need to restore my deletions which were a result of a Plaxo Sync.
But apparently that issue has been fixed because the current version of the site shows the status message "Google Calendar Sync has been re-enabled!"
As a site note : How difficult it would be to have civicrm sychronisation with plaxo. That would be a killer feature for civicrm. Drupal's webservices module should be wrapped around the current contacts module implementation, but i have no idea what API should be provided to Plaxo.
