develOOp another fine develOOpment

Surprised by the in-your-face-advertising on the drupalcon.org site (I'm referring to the horizontal flower-bar at the bottom which announces Acquia and Sun as main sponsors for the event) i checked the page listing all the sponsors, some weird statistics grabbed my attention:

Drupalcon2008 Szeged:
Platinum Sponsor : 1
Gold Sponsor : 1
Silver Sponsor : 10
Bronze Sponsor : 3
Individual Sponsor : 8

This is so different from the normal long-tail statistics that state that there should be a very large group of small contributors.

Cross-checking this with the sponsors for other drupalcons confirms my beliefs that we need a lot more individual sponsors.

Drupalcon2007 Barcelona:
Gold Sponsor : 5
Silver Sponsor : 3
Bronze Sponsor : 7
Individual Sponsor : 26

Drupalcon2008 Boston:
Platinum Sponsor : 4
Gold Sponsor : 8
Silver Sponsor : 16
Bronze Sponsor : 20
Individual Sponsor : NA

So.. the solution should be simple: i.e Check in to the drupalcon.org site and go to your personal registration page: http://szeged2008.drupalcon.org/user/{UID}/registration to buy a shirt.
But .... once your initial registration is over it is apparently no longer possible to alter that. Since we had about 26 people supporting Drupal last DC, and we only have 8 now I think we could deduce that we might be missing a few thousand euro's in individual sponsor-money.

update: I know.. there are still 3 weeks of registration left, but I still think that we need to attract more supporters by allowing everybody to buy a I-Sponsor-Drupalcon-T-Shirt directly instead of through the contact-us page as suggested on the registration pages.
